Bringing water back to the now dry river channel involves large diameter pipe work, flow control gates and structures, earthwork, and in-water stream restoration and mitigation.PacifiCorp is mandated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to provide various environmental enhancements, such as this project, as part of their relicensing effort, allowing PacifiCorp to operate the dam for another 50-year license period.M&S inspectors are required to comply with all FERC quality control and safety requirements, including water quality monitoring, such as turbidity and dissolved oxygen content. This requires additional documentation and qualifications to ensure that PacifiCorp is always compliant with their FERC mandates. Client:PacifiCorpLewis RiverLewis River hatchery Pond 15M&S Services Provided:Construction ManagementProject Highlights:The Pond 15 project expands the capacity of the Lewis River Hatchery and adds an elevated sorting facility, complete with pescalator to transfer the fish from the pond to the sorting tables. Project involves large quantities of welded steel water supply and drain lines, structural concrete work, and mechanical and electrical systems.M&S is responsible for quality control on the project. Due to the complexity of the facility, some discrepancies in the plans are to be expected. Our inspector worked with the contractor and designer to trouble shoot conflicts in the plans and resolve issues before major rework would have to take place. Client:PacifiCorp
