Mackay & Sposito, Inc. focuses on leadership

August 11, 2006 — MacKay & Sposito, Inc. (M&S) is pleased to announce the leadership promotions of Derrick Smith, P.E., Peter Kowatsch, P.L.S. and Lisa Hunter Schauer.  Smith joins the six existing partners of the firm, Kowatsch and Hunter Schauer join the Associate team.

Derrick Smith, P.E., an accomplished engineer, has been promoted to Partner in the Tri-City branch office.  He began his career at M&S in 2003 after graduating from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University with his Master’s in Business Administration degree.  Smith had several years of engineering experience after graduating from Brigham Young University with his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering, prior to joining the M&S team.  Smith is a Professional Engineer in Washington, Oregon, California, and Idaho as well as a Certified Project Management Professional. 

Peter Kowatsch, P.L.S. joined M&S in 2002 after working for himself and another firm in Washington State.  Kowatsch has been promoted to an Associate of the firm and manages the land surveying services in the Tri-Cities office.  He has his Professional Land Surveyor license in the states of Washington and Oregon, as well as over thirty years of land surveying experience.

Lisa Hunter Schauer manages the firm’s Business Development and Marketing functions for the corporate and branch offices and joined M&S in 2000.  Hunter Schauer received her Bachelor’s of Arts degree from Gonzaga University and has worked in the Southwest Washington area for the past eight years.  Hunter Schauer previously worked for the Secretary of the Interior and as the Governmental Affairs Director for Southwest Washington Building Industry Association.  She has been involved in the community and most recently served as the President of the Swift Board of Directors in Vancouver, Washington.

Founded in 1974, MacKay & Sposito, Inc. offers full service civil engineering, land and construction surveying, land-use planning, landscape architecture, construction management and public involvement services.  With offices located in Vancouver, WA, Kennewick, WA, and Wilsonville, OR as well as a project office in Sherwood, OR, the company employs over 85 employees.
