The Central Ferry-Lower Monumental No. 1 500 kV transmission line begins at the Central Ferry Substation in Garfield County, Washington and traverses westerly for 38 line miles across Garfield, Columbia, and Walla Walla counties to terminate at Lower Monumental Substation near the Lower Monumental Dam on the Snake River.
 
The transmission line consists of 159 steel lattice towers and 88 miles of associated access roadways. The project also featured significant related work, including installation of the 28.5-mile Lower Monumental-Little Goose segment of the Franklin-Hatwai Fiber Optic System, installation of 10,000 feet of the Sacajawea-Lower Monumental segment of the Franklin-Hatwai Fiber Optic System, relocation of the first four (4) spans of the Lower Monumental-McNary No. 1 500 kV transmission line, and relocation of the first two (2) spans of the Lower Monumental-Little Goose No. 2 500 kV transmission line.
 
MacKay Sposito’s provided an onsite team of experienced Quality Assurance Representatives that specialized in each facet of construction. Our construction management team monitored and ensured the contractor’s compliance with project plans and specifications as well as tracked and monitored project controls such as submittal, RFI, and Change Order documentation. We also monitored and tracked project progress relative to contractor invoicing.
