Due to increasing public use and to comply with their FERC license requirements, Grant County PUD undertook a major renovation of the existing boat launch, campground, and day use area in the Desert Aire community.

The project included the demolition of two existing boat launches, the development of a new 3-lane launch with ADA compliant ramps and floats, a new parking area (including boat queuing, tie-down area, ADA routes, and restrooms), an expanded boat basin and navigation channel requiring significant dredging, and the construction of a large naturalized jetty.

MacKay Sposito performed a variety of tasks. We completed topographic and bathymetric surveys, developed conceptual designs and cost estimates, performed extensive public involvement and outreach to the community, coordinated the cultural resource surveys, prepared the permitting packet (in partnership with an environmental consultant), coordinated the completion of a sediment sampling and analysis plan, coordinated a dredge management plan, and prepared an Army Corps of Engineers alternatives analysis.

Furthermore, we also assisted the PUD during construction by providing construction management and inspection services.
