Project Summary

Client: Grant County Public Utility District
Location: Grant County, WA
Service Provided: Construction Inspection

As part of their FERC relicensing efforts, Grant County PUD upgraded their water system at the Priest Rapids Dam.

The upgrades replaced and enhanced the existing system feeding the powerhouse and salmon hatchery, added fire flow and domestic service to the new Wanapum Heritage Center, installed new chlorination equipment, installed a pump house with vertical turbine pump, and constructed a 150’ tall, 250,000-gallon elevated water storage tank.

A unique component of this project was that the crushed rock backfill was derived from material that was generated during the original construction of the dam. The crushing and stockpiling of this material was treated as a separate project.

MacKay Sposito provided construction inspection for the project, along with some materials testing.
