Project Summary

Client: PacifiCorp
Location: Portland, OR
Services Provided: Construction Management

PacifiCorp owns and operates both the Grace and Oneida hydroelectric facilities. Given their age, these historical facilities were in need of structural and coatings refurbishment of their powerhouses, mechanical building, and surge tank.
Existing coatings, which contained hazardous materials, had to be safely removed, as well as underlying structural elements rehabilitated before new coatings could be applied. Restoration work occurred in strict compliance with permitting requirements for historical elements. Challenges included unknown scale of structural refurbishment and impact of environmental conditions on coatings installation.
MacKay Sposito provided a full-time on-site construction inspector to document the work, as well as a part-time construction manager to act as a single point of contact for all parties, coordination, centralized documentation, and contract administration.
