Project Highlights

MacKay Sposito provided construction inspection services on this FHWA administered contract. This $3.2 million pavement preservation project consists of 5,000 square yards of patching, 27 miles of crack sealing, 590,000 square yard micro surfacing, and pavement marking on 33.1 miles of roads and parking areas on Sol Duc Valley area, the
Hurricane Ridge area and the Lake Crescent area. MacKay Sposito provided construction inspection services on this FHWA administered contract.

The project area stretched through the Olympic National Park with steep and winding roads seeing heavy tourism. These conditions made the oversight of traffic control and coordination with Park Service staff crucial to success. The construction contractor completed work using a variety of crew and equipment configurations, requiring keen
attention to workmanship to ensure it met specifications. Additionally, the work spanned varying weather conditions from burn bans to wet weather protocols.
