When Newland Communities acquired and rebranded a 4,700 acre master planned community, they wanted to build a community center that would not only be a gathering place for residents, but would capture the spirit of the community they were setting out to develop. The result of the effort was The Post at Tehaleh.

The Post is ideally situated. Not only does it capture spectacular views of nearby Mt. Rainier, but it is located at the crossroads of both the street and trail network. The pet friendly environment and nearby elementary school make it the perfect place to stop by after taking the kids to school or taking the dog out for a walk. Residents gather for their coffee from Caffe D’arte or to relax on the couches or benches and catch up.

MacKay Sposito worked to align and set the grade of the building such that it would optimize views and the relationship to the surrounding area, while avoiding import or haul. We also carefully graded in the seven pedestrian connections to meet the accessibility requirements. The result is a destination that has become the icon for the community.
